Orca Security or Wiz for multi-cloud coverage: where each scores higher
Short answer
On our coverage weights Orca Security scores 9.09 and Wiz 9.03, the closest pair at the top of the ranking. Orca scores higher on clouds named, agentless depth and path to first findings; Wiz scores higher on risk context, runtime, integrations and pricing. With equal weights the order reverses, so the right choice depends on which half of that list your estate needs.

Where the scores come from
The scores below are the same ones used on every page, with reasons and sources on the Orca and Wiz profiles. This briefing exists because the two sit close together at the top of the ranking and the order depends on the weights, which a buyer should know.
Where Orca scores higher
- Clouds and environments named: Orca 10.0, Wiz 9.0. Orca names AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud, plus on-premises for its sensor. Wiz names AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and OCI.
- Agentless workload depth: Orca 9.8, Wiz 9.6. Both read workloads deeply without agents; Orca describes reading block storage for Linux and Windows VMs, containers and serverless.
- Path to first findings: Orca 9.0, Wiz 8.5. Both connect without an agent; Orca states SideScanning deploys in minutes, while the Wiz pages reviewed state no setup time.
Where Wiz scores higher
- Risk context: Wiz 9.8, Orca 9.6. The Wiz Security Graph is the reference design for attack paths.
- Runtime: Wiz 8.4, Orca 7.6. Both offer an eBPF sensor; Wiz's blocks threats on VMs, containers and serverless containers, and Orca's is an optional layer that scores lowest in the set.
- Integrations and reach: Wiz 9.8, Orca 8.2. Wiz lists 200+ integrations and states a Fortune 100 footprint above 65%.
- Cost visibility: Wiz 7.0, Orca 6.5. Wiz's AWS Marketplace listing gives 12-month prices per 100 workloads for two editions and its add-ons; Orca's listing gives four workload tiers without the term captured in our read. Neither publishes prices on its own site.
How much do the weights decide?
On our default weights, which favor agentless reach across many clouds, the order is Orca Security then Wiz. With equal weights across the seven criteria, Wiz scores 8.87 and Orca 8.67, and Wiz ranks first. With the calculator's "Runtime first" preset Wiz also ranks first. The gap is small in every case, which is a reason to test both rather than to trust either total.
Which estate fits which?
Choose on the criteria, not the totals:
- If your estate includes Oracle, Alibaba or Tencent, or you need depth on every workload before any agent rollout, Orca's leads are the ones that matter.
- If your estate is on the four largest public clouds and your team will live in the attack-path view and route findings through many integrations, Wiz's leads matter more.
- If runtime blocking is the deciding need, neither leads: CrowdStrike and Sysdig score 9.6 on runtime.
How to decide in a trial
Connect both to the same accounts on the same day, as lesson 6 describes. Measure time to first complete inventory and share of workloads covered by type, then compare the top ten attack paths each produces against your own judgment. The head-to-head page has every score side by side, and the coverage calculator lets you set the weights you would defend.
